I saw this movie yesterday for the first time, and I became somewhat clear: the rule that second part never good seems to lose strength against the rule that 'third party is always worse'. The first Pirates of the Caribbean movie meant as a surprise, a nice movie, fun and full of action, the latter would take that formula and multiplied it (with little abbility, I think), so we got more action, more jokes, more special effects and that things weren't getting out off the rails, things which have failed in this third part.
To begin I must say that I found it too long, and especially its first part is boring and long, one gets the feeling that neither advances the plot or nobody knows very well where to go, and the characters seem a caricature of what at first would have been. Jack Sparrow in this movie has more bad jokes he has done throughout the trilogy, it's funny only one in a fiw nonsense of all that he does throughout the film, he has blurred so much himself that he has lost all coherence and serves both to make the utmost idiocy and to be a hero when necessary.
After the surprising effects of its predecessor, here creatives have limited to do a little more of the same and to put a giant waterfall and an equally gigantic whirlpool already, and both already seen in the trailer, thus little surprise. The script turns had already been given in previous releases, but here the characters often change sides and betray one another so many times that eventually it seems a joke and lacks credibility.
The two main faults (in my opinion) are an excessively in my opinion, especially its first part that becomes very slow and long for no reason, and a script that this time is much weaker and with some unforgivable things like jokes are more important over action, which misses the whole epic emotion.
Not everything is bad, occasionally there is a spectacular scene, a joke that's funny, and after the first hour and a half the end is more entertaining. I have to say that some things sorpendieron me nicely, like the end unexpectedly brave and hard for a Disney movie, but still, one thing is completely and utterly out of place: I read that they're filming the new movie of the series: Pirates of the Caribbean 4, On Stranger Tides. I regret, I am sure it will be a new twist to a story that already should have stayed in a single movie, not a trilogy. What new can bring to something that already in its latest part was too far-fetched and lacking in consistency? In addition, two of the main protagonists, Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley have refused to participate, but no matter, the project will proceed. Money is money : (
